You were lucky to a certain extend that you dashboard and door panels were replaced and it only took you a short time of wait. Unfortunately your experience with the dealer was not as good. I would assume that they had ordered spares of the recalled items and found a customer who needed them and your were sorta the "lucky customer." I think you still came ahead. There are very unhappy Lexus IS owners who are stuck with the melted dashboards and door panels who missed the deadline. I actually have melted Rear Door Panels. I may have to try my luck in asking my dealer if they have extras. I am due for a fuel something recall, I will certainly try in asking of they have RR door panels available. Better yet I will give my buddy a call at the dealership and see he can find out if there are spare DR RR door panels, unclaimed.
I’m definitely grateful, which is why I didn’t complain or make a big deal to them about it.. But Im pretty sure dealers don’t order a bunch and keep them on deck for these campaigns. I’d be willing to bet they don’t even get paid fairly to help absorb costs of campaigns on large scales such as these.. After all, they really didn’t have to in the first place.
I would assume the mains reason I was able to get it done was because of my year and production date.. along with a committed service manager to get it done.
I do think it is because your car is fairly new and that issue should've been addressed. I'm gonna try to contact Lexus dealers around me to see if they are able to help out with this issue. I figure maybe if I bug them a little and with a little luck, I might be able to find a lead. Will update! But if not, I might actually just wrap the interior.

In addition, my 2 cents, Dealers will order the replacement dashboard and door panels based on some kind of estimate, based on a database probably. Or else each dealer is allocated a minimum quantity of the recalled parts. Mind you these replacement parts although “free” must be consumed (or installed) for the Dealer to submit a reimbursement to Toyota. Otherwise these inventory will sit in the dealer taking space, with no value.
