Default Yet ANOTHER 2IS stereo question

Hi CL forum,

Please let me apologize in advance for my first ever post on here if I have overlooked an answer to my question as I have searched high and low and cant find a solution yet.

I have a 2009 IS250 with Nav (non ML).

I wish that I had done some research a little further before I bought my car as I am so used to having a USB audio input, and my 2IS has none.

I bought a Grom USB#, and it doesn't do what I want, nor does it look very "stock" while in use with the OEM stereo.

So here is my question:

What would happen if I bought a complete 2010 or up (obviously 2IS) OEM stereo with Nav and OEM USB cable and replaced my stereo.

I know that the DVD Nav function will be replaced by a USB update hard drive, but will everything else stay the same?

Will I be able to use the main wire harnesses to run the 2010 and up OEM stereo?

Again, sorry if this has been covered, I REALLY did do a search first.

BTW, this is a great forum, with a lot of great members. I have been lurking for the past month, and am happy to be part of the community.

TIA!!

Hi and welcome. I can't answer your question with any certainty but the one thing you can do is search the online parts supplier wiring harnesses for changes in PN's between the years and type with ML vs non-ML.

I would say sign up for Toyota TIS and/or alldatadiy.com with a subscription as they will also have the wire colors, connecting everything and you can compare key components. The problem is there are so many connections being made in the harnesses and the smallest change will create different PN's so one could easily miss a connection looking on pages of screens.

FWIW I have a 2013 w nav and will answer what I can.

I wish you luck.
