Lightbulb Stereo Problems

Hey all! Thank you so much for contributing your ideas and making this site awesome! This is my first time posting here. I have a 2010 lexus IS 250. It is equipped with navigation system but does NOT have the Mark & Levinson audio. recently I started noticing that the stereo automatically changes its source and in the process ejects a last used CD if there is a CD in the system. Soon after this, the volume/power **** becomes unresponsive and so does the tune ****. Also the quick source select buttons stop working.

About 10-20 seconds or so it fixes itself and everything is operational again. This has been happening more frequently now especially if i hit a bump or a rough patch of road. I was wondering if anybody has had a similar/identical problem or knows what needs to be done to fix it.
Thanks in advance!

Now this is something I've never read/heard of happening before. Initial thoughts are to remove the unit and ensure connections are all tight in back AND that if the vehicle was purchased used, that all aftermarket pieces that might have been added to the system and correctly removed. If it continues to happen, replace the entire lower audio unit. I've seen them on eBay for $100-200.

Good luck!

I have a 2010 IS250C with the navi system and not the premium ML audio. My car started doing the same thing earlier this year - hit a bump and the radio goes crazy like reubenjsam described. Mine keeps freaking out for a minute or two, a little longer than reubenjsam's.

Gville350 advised to check into proper installation/removal of aftermarket items. FWIW in my case, my car is stock and has never had any aftermarket stuff. I have been waiting for the head unit to explode or something, but I am wondering about the touch screen unit being the problem.

Well, i have been dealing with same issue that you guys got. The problem is not come from aftermarket add-on unit. It's the control panel itself. The IC controller is on its way out and need to be replace.

a few of my customer had luck with resetting the ECU by disconnect negative terminal for 3-4 minuted.
Just remember ONE THING, power on ACC without starting the car until the whole system boost up (press on start button twice without pressing the brake)
After the system loading up, start the car and find out the problem has been solved or remain. Let me know so i could help you out more further.

Any input on what exactly this might be?

I had the same problem a couple of years ago with my 2010 IS 250C. Long story short, the circuit board became damaged and disconnected within the radio itself caused by excessive vibration and potholes. Every time I hit a bump in the road the radio did something random. Fortunately, the dealership replaced it as a manufacturer's defect even though it was well past the warranty... but it did take me 6 months to convince them.

So you only had to have them replace the lower half (cd player portion)? This is what it sounds like to me, which is a relatively easy and inexpensive fix.
