sinister2c,

Would you mind posting any headlight connector pinouts you have figured out or schematics possible you have referenced?

take me a look at the connector picture
4 big pins on the top is low/high bean
2 first pin’s on the bottom is Ground
in the first picture, positive and negative for DRL pointed with needles (red is positive) DRL pins, red is positive
You would have to connect it to ACC2 if you want DRL always on whenever you car is on

Whole connector, 4 big pins on the top is Low/High bean

I'm really wondering if I pull the $400 depo halogen head light apart and I pull my factory 2008 ISF HID headlight apart if I can install the factory HID AFS projector and motor over to the depo housing.. the real reason is #1 is the factory HID projector is a better projector and #2 I just spent $199 for Phillips 6000k bulbs .. but to be honest it looks like the $400 depo halogen headlights have all the cut outs to run the AFS motor and projector and looks like it has the holes to mount the factory HID box to the bottom too!!

Won't work...the DRL circuits and other stuff take up the space occupied by the swivel motors. In addition, the mounting bracket is different as well as projectors. The 2011+ only has autolevel so the project mounts to a solid backing. The swivel projectors mount via to pegs on top and bottom.

This has been discussed and confirmed before on the 2011+ OEM DRL H/L thread.

Just curious if you where to purchase the Depo headlights designed for HIDs how difficult would it be to re-pin the lights so it would work for years 06-10?

These look like knock offs. They don't even have a brand listed. The DEPOs are for halogen bulbs only.

Though they do have the Depo name in the description. I would ask the seller for better pics on the lenses. To confirm they are truly DEPOs. This is a first I see an actual HID version of the 2IS HID lamps.

I'm pretty sure these are Depo OE replacements that insurance companies usually pay for. I've posted links to them in some of my previous posts.
I assume they are wired exactly like the OEM so you may want to check out the 2011+ OEM LED DRL change thread. The repinning and transfer of ballasts/lamps are all in that thread. Also...there is a video by Lam Le on YouTube that will also shows the process...maybe not in detail but will give you an idea of the effort.

Soooo when is someone gonna just swap the oem projector into a bracket and replace this halogen bowl? Then you retain and upgrade... this just seems like settling for a compromise of the lesser

I assume the HID Depo version would come with a projector that is designed for HID. That is the problem when people put HID in halogen, the projector bowl isn't designed for the optics and output. These aftermarket CAPA certified replacements have gotten pretty good, so unless someone does a side by side comparison , we will never know.

as far as swapping a projector in to use your old D4s, you can try some of the hack straight HID projector retros, or find a set on 2011+ HID projectors and hope the mount points are same. On HID planet, some guys did some hybrid RX projector retros on 2006-2010 AFS housings. Others have tried different projectors.

I will have some time this week to bake the Depos open and see how projector is mounted on the halogens.

that would be awesome... the light output pattern even on the halogen projector is still crap... its not wide at all... wonder if a pair of Morimoto retro projectors would be able to be bolted in for a better projector?? anyways I'll order my depo halogen headlights next week... they just had a sale on these depo headlights cause they were $395 last week...oh well..still going to get them and try..i cant stand the factory 08 IS-F lights anymore they are ugly as sin!!!

Its not the bolt in that is problem. I’m sure some custom brackets will get them to bolt on. It’s the rear clearance. There is only like 5 inches of room so doing a straight style projector requires that you cut open back of housing and future bulb changes require headlight removal.

Not true. The HID version (unloaded, need to transplant ballasts/lamps from old HID H/Ls) are at link below:
