Default Alternator decoupler pulley question

I have a 2012 f-sport is350, and currently having the "chirping" sound coming from the pulley. I read a few threads on here claiming that if we removed the cap on it, we should be able to see some rust build up (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...g-noise-2.html)

When I removed the lid from the pulley, I see tons of grease / gunk build up inside of it. I'm not sure if this is normal? Most pulleys I've seen are pretty clean. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Here's the actual video of the sound. Drove it around for about a 2-3 miles at around 50-70 mph and sound still sounds pretty bad. It just seemed to get worse after I opened up the cap and cleaned it out.

I replaced the pulley on my IS350, just buy the Lisle 57650 alternator tool on amazon and get a new pulley with it. It wasn't hard to do if you can turn a wrench. Got rid of the chirping noise for me, all quiet now!

Got it. That was going to be my next steps. Could i replace the pulley with the alternator still intact? Or would i need to remove the entire thing in order to disassemble the pulley.

Hopefully you're still active. Did you end up removal the whole alternator for this job ? Ordered but hopefully don't need to rip it out

Got an Litens OEM pulley with no instructions. Did you need to turn the pulley counter clockwise to loosen ? Thanks

Last post was 2017-12, I wouldn't count on it.

Have you deemed your pulley to be defective? Depending on the miles, if North of 125k mi I'd replace the whole thing w Denso reman and save yourself some headache. JM2C

yes, i read some forum to inspect for rust after removing the cap off the decoupler pulley. I found rust behind where I blew it out and relubed the system. Sound is gone and very happy. OAD pulley are recommended for replacement at 120k and since I already purchased the pulley for $30. Figure it wouldn't hurt trying to extend the ALT life. Charging is perfect at the moment beside the chirps that annoys me
