Default help with aligning alternator pulley

Hey so the serpentine belt is whirring and squealing and i just replaced that along with the waterpump and other things. Question is if the alternator pulley is too far towards the front of the car compared to the waterpump pulley how do i get it to be pushed back towards the firewall to line up?

Check this post and follow step 6 to loosen the belt, re-align it and use the diagrams at the end of the post to make sure you have the correct routing.

The belt is routed and seated fine, the issue is that the waterpump pulley and the alternator pulley don't line up.

Obviously the picture isnt of my car but this is what is happening.

Where did you get the waterpump from? seems as that would be the problem, not the alternators location.

I think you may have put the water pump pulley on backwards. If put on backwards, it will cause it to not line up with the other pulleys. This has happened to me before.

well i think i found the problem the alternator looks to be tilted down a hair. I took the belt off and tightened the 2 bolts holding on the alternator but its on there good. I dont understand what the problem could be though because the alternator sat properly before I swapped the waterpump.

the alternator had just been replaced when I bought the car in june. The bearings spin freely and are not worn out, no shaft play whatsoever.

Thats the same replacement I went with, so it cant be the pump. Maybe something is loose, or like was mentioned, a pulley is on backwards

Im positive that nothing is loose. and is the difference noticable when you install the waterpump pulley backwards??

I just don't know what to do now, does anyone know what the bottom alternator bolt bolts to?
