90,000 Mile Service in Toyota versus Lexus dealership
Hi all - I own a 2009 Lexus IS250 AWD. We recently moved and the Lexus dealerships are much farther out now. I have gone to Lexus dealerships until my 80,000 mile service and they have always serviced it according to the service guide. Recently, I got my 85000 mile oil change done at an independent mechanic. Coming up is a 90,000 mile service. And the Lexus service guide has given a laundry list of scheduled maintenance including replacing ac filter, engine air filter, brake fluid and inspection of a host of other things not typically done. I am toying with the idea of getting it done at a Toyota dealership which is much closer compared to the Lexus dealerships. When I called the Toyota dealer, they said they will do the regular oil change and tire rotation and will let me know if the car needs any more work. So clearly they did not have an idea about the additional service items recommended in the guide. Has any of you serviced your Lexus at a Toyota dealership and for major milestones do you ask them up front to include the service items per the guide or what is your approach?
Thanks.
Thanks.

There is little difference (maybe loaner car, etc) having your Lexus serviced at Toyota. You should have no worries and I believe they can do warranty work as well.
They are very well aware of all the items since Toyota vehicles also have the same have the same scheduled maintenance items as your Lexus. What you probably experienced is the difference in Customer Service you are probably use to. Toyota Dealerships don't tend to ki$$ as much @$$ as Lexus tends to.
Just tell them you want the 90k service in the Owners Manual and they will be more than happy to charge you the $300-$500 it will cost.

I have had all of my scheduled service at Toyota. Lexus for warranty items. Some times I just get simple things done at my local garage. Any good mechanic can "look" at things. That's about all they do when they say "inspect"

I have serviced my 2012 IS250 at my local Toyota dealer beginning at about 40,000 miles. It now has 94,000 miles and I'm taking it to them for an oil change and tire rotation again later this week. They have access to all the necessary parts and their prices are 30% less than the Lexus dealer I bought it from. They're also 25 miles closer to my home. Your Toyota dealer will take good care of you.

Toyota can service your Lexus but warranty work must be done at Lexus.
