Default 08 headlamp issues

I have an 08 AWD and am having intermittent issues with my headlamps coming on either in auto or manual mode when first turned on. I have to on the wheel turn them off and back in again before they will come on and then sometimes the passenger side does not come on. I am not sure what is happening anyone have any ideas or have had this happen to them. Thanks for the info

My 2013 did exactly that same thing. HID bulbs and ballasts are supposed to be good for ~90,000 miles (4 to 6 years) but many are failing short of that.

Car is new to me over a month ago and first night out the right side turned off when warm (4 years, 52k mi) and Lex corporate would do nothing.

I started by swapping the D4S bulbs from side to side and this changed it, but did not fix it. Then I bought new D4S bulbs Morimoto 55,000k and installed them. $30 ea through amazoo... Right side ballast still lags left at start up and has a different hue. I have since bought new ballasts but have not had time to install them. PS do not touch these bulbs at all. Any oils on your hand or anything transferred to this bulb will kill it. ** Read up on proper cleaning before powering them on. **

See this post for Toyota PN for the ballasts... There are cheaper ballasts out there. Morimoto claims their DDLT003 ballast to be drop in 35w Denso replacement which has D2S applications too. These are $65 a pop vs $194 Yoda price or $264 Lexi price... The ballast PN for the 2013 is here... It may be the same for yours...

thank you this this information is really appreciated. The we is part is that usually once I turn them off then back on they seem to be ok but occasionally the right sDe does go off so I will replace bulbs first and then ballast. I thought it could be a wiring issue, which I hope not. Thank you again

FWIW I think my HID bulbs are original but no clue honestly.
OSRAM XENARC Germany D4S... let us know what you find.

Make certain the lights are off when you inspect these or you may be electrocuted!!!!!
You need to remove the air box and unplug the MAF sensor on right side. Left side unbolt the washer fluid neck and you'll have enough access.

And NP!
Now if others could only say thanks when strangers take their time to help them... This place is something else... lol

Yeah I have experience with HIDs but this is my first Lexus so I did not know if there was anything maybe in particular that I should be looking for. Have changed plenty of them in the past in other vehicles so I should be good there, always detach ground from battery every time I touch electrical parts. I will start watching th bulbs and ballasts and go from there. Thanks again for the assistance I know how it goes on these things believe me.
