Greetings,
I recently got my tire pressure light on, but all my tires were okay, so I checked my spare in the trunk and found it was flat with a hole in the side wall. Do I need to buy a whole new spare wheel with the tire? or can I just replace the spare tire?
I’m 76 years old and only remember changing one flat tire on the side of the road in the past 61 years of driving. Doing so, now days you are risking life and limb.
A spare and a jack take a big piece of trunk space, especially if you carry a spare that is the same diameter as one of my 245/45/20s. Concealed carry would also be good idea in the event you do depend on a spare tire. These are heavy tires on our cars too, not a job for most women and many older men like myself with spinal stenosis.
I got following parts
1. Wheel : 42611-0T031 ( paid approx $95 )
2. 155/90 R18 113M Linglong tyre ( Approx $100 )
3. Fitment with balancing at local store $16
4. Jacks and accessories approx $50
Same lug bolts fit the spare tyre, no need to purchase additional
Even I would like to remove the trays and somehow fit the spare tyre. If someone knows good fabricator we can work with them. I'm from CA

For future reference for anyone, here is a thread that discusses the spare tires for the 2nd generation IS.
