Car turns off when shifting
Hello House.
Good evening having some issues.
My car engine shuts off when shifting from D to R and vice versa. This happens occasionally.
Then I’d have to shift to park to restart the engine. Same for Shifting to neutral.
What could be the cause?

Hi and welcome. That is not a lot of information to go on. What year, what car, how many miles/km? Please add some more detail about its daily performance.
Example, it starts and idles fine. It revs up fine and there are no CEL lights on. It does not shake and the idle speed is 700 RPM when warm.
What if you press on the throttle and keep it at 1100 RPM and then place it into gear. What happens? Once in gear and driving does it stay running?
I suspect its a 250 and needs some cleaning done. Search Walnut shell blasting, carbon build up. Either engine can die when the load changes (placed into gear) if the MAF sensor is dirty. Start by cleaning the MAF sensor. Do a search.

Mileage is 159,650. No cel lights on at all
It idles fine. Drives good once in drive or R.
It shifts perfectly from Park to drive or R.
but shifting from any of those gears to another is the problem. Engine turns off.
For example if I gotta do a U turn shifting from D to R and vice versa engine turns off each time.
It shifts perfect occasionally. If it doesn’t , when shifting engine dies but battery stays on and I gotta shift back to park to start engine again.
I Ll look up the rev stuff in a bit

Still suspect MAF issues and maybe carbon build up. How long has it been doing this? A vacuum leak between the TB and MAF or anywhere on the manifold could easily cause this and not have a CEL.
When was it last serviced?
When was it last serviced?
Initially it started when I’d be hooked in traffic and switch to neutral... after some mins it’d go off.
Then say in the last 2weeks it’s been having this problem.
Last service was 2months ago.
