Hey guys,
Been contemplating changing up my exhaust setup for a while now and was thinking about adding an xpipe in place of my Megan midpipe's secondary cats. I currently have the Megan mid going into a Tsudo axle back exhaust. I love the note it has but I just wish it was louder... I mean it's already pretty decent in terms of loudness but after having this for over 8 months I need to mix it up a bit. Would replacing the secondary cats with an X pipe give the exhaust a nice sound boost without changing the tone too much? If not, then what does it do? Any other suggestions you guys have are appreciated. Trying to do something custom in other words without altering the tone too much. I plan on keeping the Tsudo mufflers so removing them or getting Magna flow, Hks, borla etc is not an option. Thanks guys!

Haha we'll see. Depends on how the exhaust turns out. Anyone here with any advice?Originally Posted by lysis250
Sell me the Megan Mid and make a custom setup.
There is so much that goes into how the exhaust sounds it is hard to make any real comment on it. I have a custom dual exhaust setup with an x and im sure it sounds different from someone else and their setup with an x pipe. I personally have more drone than id like which is my fault for opting out of a proper muffler and for this reason I have collected parts to completely redo my exhaust. You probably won't get a usable answer here, you will just have to look into how exhaust components work and decide for yourself what you want to try.
This is the only recording I have of my car if you need to hear something.
I plan on replacing the mid section with this, with a turbo style muffler if the exhaust shop can get it to fit. I am doing a custom setup, it required a bit of reading and I can only hope I like how it will sound.

I understand. Thanks for the input. What is your current setup anyway? Would happen to have an outside exhaust clip of your setup by any chance?Originally Posted by DickH

My current setup... Stock exhaust manifolds, secondary cat delete, magnaflow muffler/xpipe combo which goes out through a 10" or 12" resonator before the tips all in 2.25" pipe. I will end up with PPE headers going through some high flow cats then 2.5" exhaust going into that midpipe with 2.25" tailpipes. I will see if I can get some more clips of my car within the next few days.

Right on, thanks. I'll have to go and speak to my muffler shop and see what they can do about my sound. I guess experimenting is the only real way to find out how the exhaust changes with certain parts in place.Originally Posted by DickH

Thanks! I actually went ahead and did the X pipe today. I had the cats (if thats what they eve are) from the Megan midpipe removed and replaced with an X pipe. So far I can say the exhaust is louder up top and has more rasp... So I like it but at the same time I kind of want to eliminate the raps so I may try putting the resonator back on to experiment. Idk yet on what I will do next but I'm sure it will be something good lol. I'm thinking just going true dual exhaust at this point, but time will tell. I have to focus on getting my car tune first

Well essentially I had a Megan midpipe with no resonator going into a Tsudo v2 axle back exhaust. And what I did was remove the secondary cats and put an X pipe in place of them. So basically I don't even have a Megan anymore lol. I do have the Megan resonator at home still so I may get it installed just to experiment with the sound, but I'm worried it will make the exhaust quite again. My goal was to increase the sound volume without adding too much raspOriginally Posted by DickH
Whats your setup? If you have room for a set of resonators they should clean up the sound.
