Water in gas tank
I have an IS 250 2013 and apparently it got water contaminated gas when I was fueling in a flooded area gas station in Louisiana. Drove about 3 blocks and the car shut off.
Anyway, the fuel sample shows 98% water contaminated :/ I have insurance and I guess the gas station insurance will be paying for it somehow. What should I tell my Lexus dealership to do? It seems like they only wanted to flush it out with no replacing the fuel pump/fuel filter ect.
I've read online that you would need to drain the tank, flush the fuel line, clean the injectors and combustion chamber. Is that all to it? The dealer mechanic said after draining the tank it would have 5% water remained in the tank? I don't think this is acceptable because who is to guarantee that down the line the fuel pump/filter and lines would not be affected? Water has been in the tank about 7 days now.
what do I need to be mindful of? Change oil? Check engine gasket? I want to get the most out of it since I will be paying insurance deductible and or have the gas station insurance pay for it.
