Default Remove Plastic Shield under Wipers

Hello all. After some heavy rain, I had a leak into the cabin when I pulled out of the driveway (on the passenger side). It seemed to be coming from somewhere behind the glove box by the door. I figured maybe some kind of drain was clogged. When I looked around, I noticed a bunch of white fluffy stuff in the vent under the wipers. Apparently some sort of critter got in there and started pulling something for nesting (bastard). If there is a clog somewhere, it's probably some of that. Has anyone taken that piece off? All I noticed were 2 plastic screws at either end. But it does look like a bunch of other things may be in the way (like the wipers). Any help would be appreciated before I start pulling things.

Thanks. Paul.

Out of curiosity, did it turn out to be rainwater coming from under the cowl? Usually water in the area you describe is condensate from the A/C due to the drain tube being blocked.

I haven't taken it apart yet (probably today). But my thought is that it was rain water only because it happened pulling out of the driveway after just starting it up so there wasn't enough time to create that much condensation. Plus there was a downpour the night before, and it hasn't happened since. I did have that AC problem in my Durrango. Drove from CT to FL with wet feet.

^Were you parked on an incline or decline when this happened?

Still haven't gotten to it (there's always something else the around the house that need attention). But I was pulling out of the driveway which is fairly steep. Which also leads me to believe something got full and spilled over. Luckily we haven't had rain, so it hasn't been an issue again.

Finally got around to taking off that cowling. Here's the crap I found. I'm guessing it's not supposed to be there. The questions is, where did it come from? Another question is would there be a problem running water back there? Aside from the fresh air intake, I don't see anything that shouldn't get wet. There was definitely a critter living there, and would like to clear any drainage that may have caused my leak.

My guess would be some sort of rodent or insect was building a home.

I know it was a rodent, just can't figure out where they got all that white stuff. I doubt it was brought from the outside (too clean), so it came from somewhere in the car. I just don't see anything that was torn apart.

The under-hood insulation perhaps?
