Default Identifying broken plastic piece from underneath glove compartment

Hi everyone,

First post, so apologize in advance if I've done something wrong.

I recently found this white plastic piece (about 2.5"L x 1"W x 1"H) appear at the foot bed area of my front right passenger seat. I think it may have fell from the glove compartment area? Though, I wouldn't know why.... I recently had my front right passenger side carpet detailed due to a spill, so I know the foam below the foot bed area was removed, so maybe this was the cause? I took a flashlight to the area under the glove compartment and noted a circular hole - is this piece perhaps from that area?

Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!!!!!!

Looks like a broken Air Recirculation Servo arm.

That's the plastic lever/arm which opens/closes the "cover" behind the glovebox for recirculation mode.
5/10 people break this as they don't read instructions when DIY changing the cabin filter (and I am one of this 5)
Did you recently have your car serviced? Whoever did it must've forced the "cover" open and broke it

I do remember reading about spending thousands of dollars to replace the whole HVAC, or taking everything apart to super glue it back on (which may break again in the near future). I just left mine "broken", as I don't really use recirculation mode anyways.

WHS+1. This is a very expensive to fix so most of us just leave it alone and the car will always be in "fresh air mode".

I am one out of 5 as well lol. I had to replace whole box when mine broke a/c wasn't getting cold enough no matter what mode it was in! Dealer replaced for free after some hassling.

I would just glue it back on with the strongest glue you can find (epoxy) and you should be good to go.

thanks for all of the replies!

Damn, I did replace the cabin filter myself about a year ago, but the piece just appeared now. I thought I had read the instructions carefully, but clearly that wasn't the case.

Just to be extra sure, this could of been only caused by the replacement of the cabin filter, right? Not anything to do with removing of the front right passenger carpet? The latter was done by a detailed shop, so just trying to see if it was caused by them.

Does anyone have a better guide that mentions being careful about this piece? I don't even know what area to try and glue it back on.

Thanks again.

This could only happened when someone force the cover open when changing the filter! I think there were some member tried to glue the piece back but it doesn't last too long. Also, it is a pia to remove everything to fix it.
