Default 2008 IS250 engine noise

Hello all,

I have a 2008 is250 63K miles. Recently the engine makes weird noise (cold or hot engine temperature, no different). The car performance seems to be normal. Engine oil level is normal, NO leaking coolant fluid. Please help identify what is making noise?

video attach below:

Thanks in advance!

I think it's the water pump that needs to be replaced

I would also check the Harmonic Balancer/ Crank pulley. It def sounds like its something being driven on the serpentine belt/or possibly cam belt. Maybe a bad bearing on an idler puller?

Thanks all for your suggestions, most pointed to the waterpump. I will order the waterpump and plan to DIY.

I would check the other easy to access bearings as well before you order the water pump. I thought my water pump was bad but my mechanic used the "screwdriver" method (google it) to ID that was idler pully bearing not my water pump.

Any update on this? Im getting that same growling noise but not that pinging. While its not leaking I was to told my water pump is going bad. The car has 77k and I know that its right about time to replace the pump.

Should the car not be driven at if the water pump is failing and making this noise?

I would fix it as soon as possible. If the water pump completely fails and doesn't push coolant through you could end up really damaging your engine. Not a risk worth taking IMO.
