Default New Owner, Have a Question?

Greetings all,

I am a new Owner of a used 2007 IS 350 (52k miles) and wanted to ask is it a good idea to get the extended warranty from the Lexus dealership. The 3 yr warranty is $2,400 and 5 yr warranty is $3,400. I think i can get them down on the price but Im thinking of going with the 3 yr warranty for 1,800. Would greatly appreciate your input. Please and thank you

Sincerely,
Happy new Lexus Owner

I think it is a good idea for use car we never know. I think you still have 70k miles factory warranty.

Don't know about anybody else but I'd take it. Just for reassurance.

Bro look online for warranty. I got mine through the Bank which was cheaper than your quote. Dealers ALWAYS rip you off. You think you're getting a good deal but you're not. Just my opinion, cause it happened to me

I would definitely get one since the navi system have a bad rep, some members experience their navs touch failing while others don't. Luckily my 06 had not yet (knock on wood),
But most upper tier warranties will cover the nav which is like a 2k fix, it literally pays the warranty itself

Dealerships typically increase the cost of the warranty be about $1,000, or more(have been working for Toyota for 15 years)... I have always bought the manufacturer backed warranty. I would get a few quotes from other dealers, and negotiate the dealer down.

Extremely unlikely. Factory powertrain warranty expires in six years (or 70k miles, whichever occurs first), so for most '07 owners that coverage ended in 2013. Even if this car were one of the ones that got an extra year due to the free warranty extension to 7 years/100k miles as part of the valve spring recall, it would still be expired (or nearly so) by now.

Any suggestions on where to look for good/trustworthy warranties?

Not sure if this helps but it's a start. I recently read that a lot of the companies are fake and basically a scam. So, like anything, buyer beware. Do your research and it may payoff? Read the details on which plan you choose, especially the electrical parts ie nav.
Is the dealership from actual Lexus? Or is it a third party? If it's a dealer warranty you can't go wrong with it. Yes you pay extra BUT dealers, not all, will take care of the issue with out the bs.

My recommendation is skip any third party warranty.

I by-passed looking into an extended warranty for my '06 IS350 and am glad I did. The price I would have paid for the warranty would have been at least 5x as much as the $$ I've had to put into it to fix non-consumables.

I would pass..... Congrats on finding an '07 with only 52k, by the way. Not bad at all! Bought ours almost 5 years ago and it had 72k on it then.
