Default New to Forum / Ext. Warranty Question

Next week I'm buying a loaded 2010 RX350 from a co-worker at a great deal (its the buy-out of an executive company vehicle).

The car has approx. 30k miles on it and as I understand it the basic warranty is 50k miles and it is transferrable (true?).

Normally with Acura & Lexus I wouldn't worry too much about it but since I'm getting a deal on the car I was considering purchasing the factory extended warranty.

I searched the Lexus website and couldn't really find anything as far as warranty details (ie what's covered and what's not) and cost,

In general I find these forums to be places where the people know a lot and are helpful.

My assumption is that I can purchase the extended warranty so long as I'm still under 50k miles. Correct?

Anyone know what the approx. cost of the extended warranties are and what they cover? I know BMW has different levels of warranty that cover different things at different costs.

Does Lexus also offer a maintenance plan? Is it worth it?

Thanks for the help.

Found the link and answered some of my own questions.

But I didn't see anything about a maintenance plan.

Also any info on pricing for the Platnium and Gold plans? How long (years/ miles) are the extended warranties as I didn't see that on the site. And has anyone had any luck negotiating price?

There is a maintenance plan, but at my dealership you have to buy it before the 1st scheduled maintenance which is 5K miles. As far as the extended warranty goes your best bet is to contact Jerry@midwestsuperstore.com or look at FD-warranty.com. Also, here's a link with what Lexus offers

Excellent link, thank you.
Seems like its only about $100 or so more for Platnium so that seems like a no-brainer to me.

Anyone had any success negotiating those prices down?

Several members here have gotten lower prices.

Thanks. I'll check out a few dealers and see how well I can do.

Extended warranty is available until the end of the original warranty period. You can wait 3 years and 364 days and buy an extended warranty (as long as the mileage on the vehicle is less than the factory warranty). Call around, these prices are negotiable and will vary among the dealers. You do not have to buy from your local dealer, any Lexus dealer can write you an extended warranty.
