Melting dash board prevention?
get "air 80 blue" tints on the whole front windshield. im not sure but i think its made by Lumar. its pretty much clear with a hint of blue. it blocks a lot more heat than the regular dark color shades but doesnt block as much sun glare. i have an 08 IS and my dash is in pretty good shape other than the scratches from my lil sister's backpack. my dash is only a little sticky front before the tinting. but since i got the tints, my dash is holding up well

I don't think a sunshade or tint is going to do much for you. Mine is parked in a garage at home and work. It has 25% tint all around, UV tint on the windshield, I used a shade every where that wasn't covered and it still happened. I think the problem is essentially hit or miss, lucky or unlucky. At least in southern climates anyway. The issue seems much less common up north.

My car is an 06, I have fully cermiac tint on the front at 20% it blocks more heat and uv rays then conventional metal biased tint. I tried the 303 stuff on a whim due to the massive ammount of fan boys here. Got it on amazon for 14 bucks shipped. Prior I used black Majic detailer which is synthetic. Most do not like it as it's heavy and greasy. BUT I enjoy a greasy dash and to add these second gen IS's are total crap! So far so good. Sunshades are a pain and still don't help while driving.
Seeing all this makes me just want to keep it as a garage queen for life. Not trying to have drop up to a two grand to replace my dashboard. I live up north of cali so maybe that helps but as soon as summer comes around, I don't know anymore. Might just crack my sun roof and buy that Sewall windshield cover even though it seems so old school. Haven't seen anyone with one of those in like 3 years
My dash seems to be holding up pretty well in my 09. I have 50% tint installed on my windshield, 35% on the sides, and ~20% on the back window which has helped a lot. I'm in an area that is cold ~9 months out of the year though, so I'm sure that plays a role in the abuse my interior takes.
