Default Remote and door locking issue

I'm new to the Lexus family and still learning the ropes. I have a 2009 IS 350 and can't seem to figure out the remote

What I want to do is lock the doors with the engine running. Like if I'm running into the house for a second, or at a convenience store, etc..

I've tried all sorts of combo's with pushing the button on the door handle, holding the lock button down, etc..

Any advice or tips would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rod

Be more specific with the title next time. Many people will gloss over threads with vague titles.

AFAIK, you can not lock your ToMoCo vehicles with the engine running and the key fob outside of the car.

Thanks. I'll be more specific with the title next time.

Overall, I love this car! Just a few little things that bug me.. like the speedometer being 2 miles an hour off.. Makes me believe I'll pass my warranty before it's actually up.

Not sure I follow you vapid2323...I'm wanting to lock the doors while I run into the house or store.. I'm not looking to let the car idle for long periods of time, just short, quick stops

This question has been posed before. You can't do it with the SmartKey.

you can't do that with your remote. you can remove the cover from the door handle and do it with the key.
Plus idling is bad for the engine. Its better you turn off the vehicle.
