Default Intake Resonator Removal

Hi Im new on here and have seen posts before about removing the resonators on the intake pipes to make the stock intake louder. I have been searching for two days and cannot find what I am looking for. Until I can invest in an aftermarket set up I just want a deeper/louder sound.

I dont think removing the resonator on the stock pipe would do anything. Get yourself a JoeZ pipe and be done with.

I'm 99% sure the 2IS has no such intake sound generator as does the 4GS and 3IS. You can buy a 4GS intake and put it on your IS. This has been done here a few times.

Well, you are 99% incorrect. The is350 does have resonator; it is a little box along the side of the Intake tube!
Again, removing this wont do too much to increase noise. Your best bet would be modified the lower airbox (similar to the Fsport airbox); and get JoeZ tube

I know there are two resonators, one on the snorkel to the air box, and one on the intake pipe from the air box to the engine. Like I said somewhere along the line I saw a post of someone who removed them but not sure about how effective it was. I think until I can get a Joe z intake pipe Im just gonna disconnect the snorkel to get some sound, Im not too concerned about a 1-2 HP loss.

If you are really really on a budget then just find a off the shelf intake tube with the same diameter, and a cone filter, slap it on and BAM, all the sound you ever want.

Or save up and get something made specifically for the IS (joe z, takeda, etc...)

Then go ahead and do it! It probably wont take you more than15 minutes. Then you could put them back once you realized they dont do anything for sound!
Seriously, there is a guy selling intake tube similar to JoeZ on San Francisco Craigslist for $80. Maybe you want to check it out.

Removed the snorkel and the sound is much louder. For now I am more than happy with it and its nothing that cant be reversed down the road.
