Default Tpms

I'm powder coating a set of OEM wheels and the shop that's doing the work can mount my tires and balance them as well. The reason I prefer them to do this is because if the wheels get scratches during this process, I'm covered. (It happened to me in the past)

My question is: does the TPMS have to be programmed then installed? or can they program it even after the guys at the powder coat have everything installed and mounted. I have no idea how they go about programming it, which is why I'm asking.

Also, I am looking at these ones: (I looked up: PMV-107J)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/TOYOTA-SCION...-/121229918840

Is this the right one to get and will Lexus want to program these?

Thanks!

the TPMS can be programmed after the tire and wheel are installed. just make sure to write down each sensors ID BEFORE mounting the tires to the rims

This...

That will save the person programming the sensors a ton of time, but I would also advise on the powder coater installing the sensors and tires so they can fix any chips/scratches that might occur during installation saving you from the "not my fault" game...GL

It is helpful to write them down so you know they can program them, but most discount tires have the scanner

Discount.Tire can reprogram for FREE !! , and if one needs replacement, they'll charge you for the sensor (25-45) and will install, balance for free.

Good luck !

I didn't even buy them yet. I was going to buy them towards the spring time, once I'm ready to install everything.

I had bought a non-lexus TPMS sensor and they were unable to program them, the one sensor was about $40 but it was for a 2006 is250 (my exact car) and was not able to program because it was not a lexus part. It suprizes me that all 4 of these are only $75 so im questioning if these are the real deal...

Who was not able to program it? If you went to Lexus did you try a local tire shop?

I went to a place called "lex tech" and I watched them try to program it. The lexus computer that hooks up into my car's computer could not detect the non-oem sensor.

Where do you think I should buy a 2006 lexus is250 oem sensor that will actually program into my cars computer correctly? Will the one such as this work?? http://m.ebay.com/itm/301066174833?nav=SEARCH&sbk=1

Its for a toyota Camry i think but will it still work for a is250?? If not where should I buy tpms sensors specifically for my is250 ? I look everyday in classifieds lol

If you have decided you need an OEM sensor, buy them new. TPMS sensors have a built-in, non-replaceable battery with a life of ~6-8 years. Buying a cheap, used sensor from ebay with an unknown life is taking a big chance that you will be doing this all over again in a couple of years. Get OEM sensors from Sewell for around $60 each, then write down the sensor IDs before they go in the tires. With OEM sensors and the sensor IDs any monkey with the right equipment can program them to your car. If you find a shop that can't program them to your car NEVER take your car there again.

Go to lexus and have them programmed. They told me they would do it for free even if the new sensors are in the tire. They are able to program them even if they are already inside the tire.
