Cam gear recall released!
no we don't have to take the plugs out, but when i perform this repair I check to see if they are due and recommend replacement with no labor charge while I'm in there. Same goes for the ZLA, its good business in my book. So it wouldn't be unreasonable to ask to charge only parts. Or at minimum a reduced Labor....
Don't worry about being a Guinea pig, the repair has been around for a couple years since it was just a TSB for a rattle.

What other things might a dealership suggest changing while they are in there doing a repair besides spark plugs (every 60K)? Drive belt? and what is the expected change interval for such?
Just want to be as informed as possible when I go in. Thanks!
Got mine done in a day! =) im very happy with it. Plus they charge me no labor at all to get spark plugs done so overall i only paid $149 for the spark plugs. =) plus complimentary car wash and vacuum
If I have an invidia midpipe installed, should I take it off and put back on the OEM midpipe before bring it in to the dealer or does it not matter? I know it has nothing to with to do with what is being fixed but just curious.
I'm going to call corporate in a bit to verify that this applies to mine. I would think so, but my VIN doesn't seem to be in the three ranges for the '06s posted a few pages back. I had posted in another cam gear rattle thread a couple of months ago, as mine had done this for the first time and I was at the very end of the extended warranty that I had bought when I got the car used three years ago. The warranty company sent a rep to the dealership to verify the condition but the car wouldn't make the noise three days in a row when the dealership tried to demonstrate it. Uggh! The good news is that my dealer knows the condition exists because they are the ones that tried to get it covered by the warranty company. Would be a very nice surprise to get this fixed for free!

There is no limitations to year or mileage i have an 06 with 115k and dealership took it no issues. Only limitation is the model of your car
No need to call corporate. They didnt even check my VIN.
You do not need to demonstrate anything when you drop your car off just call and schedule for your appt and tell them if for the recall and your set.
Called the dealer a little bit ago and just got the call back, telling me to bring it on in today. Nice! I have a new serpentine belt which I bought from Sewell a while back (just to have) and I will ask them to put that on while they are in there. Should be at no charge since the belt obviously has to come off anyway. Also going to ask for a quote on the water pump. If they tell me the $210 that I think someone else posted that they paid, I will definitely have that changed at the same time.
Can't beat CL for staying a step ahead!

Just got the recall notice in the mail today for my '06 .... man, my car has had no maintenance necessary other than oil/filter, tire changes but a ton of recalls in the 7+ years I've owned it. I only have 43k on it but I'm going to check the water pump and gasket for leakage but so far everything seems ok for those two things and I'm a bit surprised because it is a Feb '06 build date. But so far it is tight as a drum, no rattles and no issues other than the recalls. Extended 8 year warranty is up next August so will need to be sure everything is ok before the warranty runs out.
