Default Navigation question for 2006 IS350

Ok here it goes....I'm new to the Lexus world, I just bought a 2006 IS350 and I'm not sure what the generation it is...I think its a 5th but not too sure. It has the original navigation from factory and also not sure what version that year came with from factory. I keep seeing a 7.1 version for sale on Ebay and was wondering if i can purchase that disc and install it myself. From what i got off of youtube, looks like i gotta pop out the clock with some special tools and just eject and load new disc.

Ok.....is it just that simple as to just ejecting old disc and loading new onew or is there something else that must be done and also will the 7.1 disc work in my car. Please help...any input will be greatly appreciated....THANKS in advance

Gen 7 updates via USB. You have a gen 5 DVD nav: http://lexusnavigation.com/what_to_order.php

Default Is there any difference in the 5.1 and 7.1 versions of the NAVIGATION DVD updates

Hello everybody, I have a 2006 IS350 and it has the original version of the navigation disc that the factory installed (which I believe is the 5.1 version) ......I keep seeing a 7.1 version on Ebay for real cheap and was wondering if there is a big diffenence in changing discs or just not waste my money. Reason im asking is cuz the disc is only $35 compared to all the newer versions that range from $100-250. really dont use the Nav thast much but thought that for 35 bucks it was worth a shot......any opinions on this????

They are not the same. For that price unless it is an old version it is most likely a pirated software copy which is both illegal and causes problems for many of our members.

7.1 is the 2007 version of the disk. It would be 2 years newer than your current 5.1 (2005) version. You would want to get one that is a little newer in my opinion esspecially if there is a lot of construction where you live or else the new addresses won't be on your disk.

I would go at least 11.1 or higher... 13.1 is due out any day now if it hasn't come out already
