So the ribbon that connects to the touch screen is broken, but i can't buy just the replacement ribbon from the dealership, so im forced to buy a navigation unit, broken or used, doesn't matter, all i need it this ribbon.





Does anywhere know i can find a broken or working navigation unit for 2nd gen IS

also checked the marketplace, no luck either.

 

this ribbon doesnt come with a replacement screen? Some people replace their screens to fix the frozen screen issue. You can buy the screen for $250 I heard

thanks for the reply, but i actually ordered a replacement touch screen from japan, and it still doesn't turn on.

the ribbon thats broken connects from the board behind the touch screen to the ups unit. i'm not sure if the dealership sells just this ribbon, i doubt it.

i believe this ribbon is the reason why my screen is not turning on, because i notice that one of the teeth on the very end of the ribbon was broken off.

 

If the cable failure, change your touch screen LCD should fix it. If connector (on UPS) is damage, you're out of luck! I don't think the cable is what you need cause the ribbon cable is included with touchscreen

 

Buy new screen on ebay. It is same as the OEM. I just changed mind and it work perfect. Good luck!
