i have the 13 limited edition.. it has around 7k on it

 

I hear a very loud crack every once in a while on my 2012 IS. No idea where it's coming from, and I don't see any damage to the dash. Haven't noticed any pattern to the noise, and it's infrequent enough (once/week?) that it doesn't bother me.

the lead tech heard it and called into "tech line" as a last resort and NO ONE KNOWS

the regional tech or whatever he is will be in the area on the 24th and they will replicate it for him

 

i'm just frustrated because my BRAND NEW car should not be making a sound like this. Everyone that gets into my car hears it and says, "what is that". every time i have to explain its just the sound my car makes i guess... mine does it every day though.. not infrequently.

 

Just tell them it's the sound of luxury!

The dealer I gone to knows immediately when I said it makes those noises, and they ask if it happens when the car sits in the sun without me mentioning it. Where the noise commonly comes from is the center air vents.

 

Haven't noticed it on our 2012 IS, but we have it garaged,and my Wife's Office has an indoor garage. We also use a good sunshield to keep the sun from directly hitting the dash when parked outside.
