I've done research and it seems this problem goes back to 07ish if not before. I always get a loud CRACK or POP sound in my dash. SO OBNOXIOUS. Anyone else? Thursday I'm dropping my car off at the Lexus dealership, getting a loaner and telling them I don't want it back until its fixed. This is ridiculous!!

Briitini, check out this link. There were tsb(s) issued relating to interior noises, although they were issued for earlier model years, they may still apply to yours...good luck

 

This is normal if your car has been out in the sun. I have a 2006 (original owner) and this still happens to me to this day but only when I have been parked out in the sun all day.

 

I don't hear any sound from my dash, I have a 2013. From what I was told from a Lexus rep. The dash was redesigned (new material) in the 2011 model year. This new dash is more durable than before. Still, definitely get it checked out by Lexus!

 

I have the 07 is250 but no crackling sound from the dash or anything that sound obnoxious

 

I've got a '06 350 in the hot SC sun; not odd dash noises here.

 

I had it and i'm living in South-East Asia.. I guess it's the sound from sudden temperature drop when I turn on the air-conditioning.

Rattling noise is fairly common on the IS (BMW is not better from what I can tell). If the car is under warranty, just take it to the dealer to fix it. I had the dealer fix rattles here and there ... don't even need TSB.

 

Got my car in 2006. Heard and still hear cracking sounds every once in a while. The dash has been physically showing crack lines (the dashboard is physically cracking).

I remember my '06 IS250 AWD had that cracking sound at times..
To me,it sounded like a rock hitting the lower windshield.

 

well as of friday they were not able to replicate it.. i guess i have to live with it. i explained to the tech he needed to drive it for 10-15 minutes after it sitting in the sun and the AC being on cold. SO ANNOYING!!!

 

Now that you mention it, I heard a random loud noise as I was driving one day. I have a 2013 250AWD. It sounded like a rock chip...
