Hey i currently have a 2006 is250 AWD. Recently the car started driving kind of rough, looked into it further & turns out i need both rear axles. Tried finding them everywhere & came up with nothing. Went to the dealer & they told me it would be $1650 for both rear axles. Just for the parts that seems kind of ridiculous just for parts. Does anyone else know of a place i can find a set for a little cheaper?
Whom told you it was the rear axles that needed to be replaced and exactly what is wrong with BOTH of them?
A good friend of mine who is also a certified mechanic. He said the boots were ripped & that there was play in the joints, the car is also lowered on BC's
^^^ Well maybe he can try to match another boot. As long as it hold grease but thats the cheap/ghetto route
Unfortunately I've been looking everywhere & can't find anything regarding these axles other than the dealership, which lead me here to see if anyone else may have some idea lol
Buy your parts from Sewell. For future reference, raise you're car up. I don't know if you're aware, but many members have experienced problems with the AWD models dropped lower than 25 inches ground to fender. People have had to replace CV boots and axles. How low are you, and how long have you been driving at that height?
ebay has quite a few rear axles for sale ranging anywhere from 130-160, buy from there, and take it to shop for install... a garage near me usually does axles for 100 bucks or so... 1650 sounds rediculous
also the gs300 shares the same rear axle so maybe you can find it from them
