KYP

just got off the phone with ADS, they say that the firmware is different between the 08-09 IS, also that it is not possible whatsoever to perform takeover on the 09 IS, it is NOT a liability issue why there is no takeover, it is just simply not possible on the 09 IS.

but look on the bright side, a remote start is designed to warm up the car and turn the heater on, which you have successfully done by yourself (congrats)
and you saved a few hundred by doing it yourself. enjoy the new remote start
Thanks for looking into it bro! Really appreciate it

Where did you guys hide the brain? I actually am in the process of finishing up my install and the location I had it in won't work. Also just a FYI for 09+ IS, the idatalink module will shut off your car when you hit the brake. I didn't realize this until I did my install. There's a thread on their forums about it, but basically the computer rejects the takeover. There might be a way to do in the future, but for now its not possible without hacking stuff up it seems.
I zip tied the brain to the drivers side fuse box. There was plenty of room.

If the Idatalink keeps shutting down your car when you touch the brake, try the PKALL? Maybe it would work for you, you can pick them up pretty cheap on Amazon and EBay.

I think I'm going to pick up a Fortin bypass. Although the xpresskit rounds out the top 3 bypasses people seem to find that the fortin is more reliable. Sucks that I'm going to have to go this route but I really can't deal with the idea of not having a takeover and the added strain that the idatalink is forcing me to add to my starter. I'll keep everyone posted on how well it works!

a good majority of the toyota cars that are newer also have no takeover, one would think if fortin can find a solution so can idatalink, considering they are both made in canada and probably by the same manufacturer. none the less i will always still use idatalink over any other brand, simply because they never fail and work absolutely perfect.

^ yea I had the fortin in my GS & IS...was fine in the IS but in my GS it was problematic after about 1 year. it took three new units and then switching over to another brand, forget what brand, before it worked again. I know my guy was furious with the amount of time they spent since they back up their work and said they would never use the fortin product again.
