I just found out my stock nav unit has a bad board & also has a bad drive. I'm in the process of getting a second opinion. Estimate for repair by Hi-Tech in Van Nuys, Ca. was $1700.00. Yes. Srriously. I happen to think thats not only Crazy, but also obsurd. Common sense says to obviously go with an aftermarket unit. So in snooping around I online & Googling, i came across this:
Now can someone tell me is this unit the "RoadRover" unit thats been mentioned in numerous other threads? It sure looks like it to me & it could possibly save me a bundle. And if so, will it install into an 06 is350 ML? (please please PLEASE say it WILL fit with only air vent issues ). Any & all reviews would be graciously appreciated also. Good, bad & ugly.
Hmmm... Won't let me post the full link for some reason. Maybe my account doesn't have enough posts. Stand by.... My bootleg solution is in the next post below. . Sorry for the inconvenience!!

It's very hard to tell, but they are using pictures from FlyAudio's website.
Upon further review it appears to be an older model of some sort. The price set at $358 indicates it may not be the latest greatest imo. Wonderful, now I'm confused. But I positively need a new unit.
After shooting over to the FlyAudio website it's clear that the seller is advertising the same product FA manufacturer. The seller is located in China & is a wholesaler. So I'm not sure if that explains the low price or not. Not sure what to make of this, but I'm currently considering the unit from Alibaba. Is the RoadRover pretty much a plug & play with an existing factory nav? I realize there is the vent issue. That's minor when I look at the bigger picture. Having a system that has functional climate controls is a priority at the moment. At a reasonable cost to me.
The vehicles OEM is what took a dump on me to begin with. Of all the systems available, Lexus has the most widely reported issues. I won't b replacing it with another Lexus OEM. This much I know.
FYI;
Found out this company has recieved MUTILIPLE complaints for fraud & it is a bonafide SCAM site.
Dodged a bullet for sure!
