Default HELP! HVAC evaporator drain blockage -VSA Warranty

About two weeks ago I noticed that the area underneath both the driver and passenger seats was getting wet when the A/C was turned on. After doing research on CL and MY.IS, I figured that the HVAC Evaporator drain was blocked.

Took my car to Lexus the next day, they confirmed what I thought and said that the total fix would be $1100.
- Pulling up the carpet to check for mold
- Drying/Replacing the padding
- Doing the HVAC TSIB

I have the Platinum VSA with 70,000 miles on the (2006 IS350) car, and although in the VSA it says that A/C Lines and Tubes are covered as well as the Evaporator, they said this problem isn't covered under that warranty.

After some hassling about how I was a loyal Lexus customer who has bought my car from a Lexus dealership, brought my car to them for every service even though I didn't need to, and purchased the best possible warranty directly from them that I could (not CPO car)....

They said that they would pay 50%.

I am thinking that they should cover the whole thing or at least go a lot more than 50% due to a manufacturing issue that Lexus know's was a problem with 2006 IS350's and is covered under the comprehensive warranty.

Thoughts??

Thanks for the help!

Well, you are well past the point of using TSIB for you...so that's a no go.

All you have left is what is mentioned within that Platinum VSA. You say that it mentions that tubes and the evaporator are covered; but does it mention any wording about fixing issues caused by failure of any of these said items? Since it says tubes and the evaporator are covered, I would think that any sort of issue arising from failure of said parts should entertain a full replacement/fix at no zero cost to you.

GL!

Call Lexus corporate and see if you can get them to do something for you. Just mention the TSIB and that you are still covered under a warranty that your dealer says doesn't cover this issue....maybe you'll get something better than 50%.

SUCCESS!!

After calling Lexus corporate and explaining my situation, they decided to cover 100% of the costs for the repair even though according to the warranty specialists at Lexus, the HVAC evaporator drain is somehow not an item covered under the Platinum VSA. The representative that I spoke with agreed with my assertion that this was a known manufacturing issue present in the 2006/2007 model year and so they offered a goodwill coverage.
