Angry So I crashed my IS ,totally pissed with my brakes and myself

Never thought I would ever start a thread of my car's accident but heck here it is :-(. I was going back home from work and just 1 KM away I had to take a left to enter the highway. There was a Mitsubishi Nativa SUV in front of me and another car in front of him. There was also just one car coming from behind on the highway on the left most track. Don't know what happened but the guy in front of the Nativa braked all of a sudden ( maybe by seeing the car which was way behind on the highway track) , then the Nativa too braked and he just kissed the bumper of the car in front of him. My Lexus though did not stop no matter how hard i pressed the brake pedals in . It was a panic brake situation of course and my car went BAM !!!!

Just a couple of days back i had a similar situation where my car just refused to stop in a panic situation with full brake force, but i escaped that since i had enough space to the left of me and no car behind so i just veered of my car to the left thus avoiding hitting the car in front. I know , I should have taken it to my dealer to check it out then , my horrible mistake . But I thought I may have braked much later so was happy then that i just escaped. I just feel that my dealership messed up my brakes the last time i took it in for the brake dust issue. I had them clean my brakes since I had excessive brake dust. The brake dust did reduce but so was the braking performance. Now I just can't blame them after the accident. It's all on me. I should have been more careful. Just hate myself

No one was injured in the accident and the Nativa guy just had a slight dent on his rear bumper and the spare wheel under his car was hanging loose. I did not travel more than 50 Km per hour on that road as well.

I just want to know is this a blessing in disguise now like most of the members who have been in an accident ? I sure can't get the 2011 light since there is only slight scratch's on the driver side lens. Can I make my dealership change my front bumper to the 2012 one ? Will they replace the whole bonnet ? It was already like a stary night due to the stone chips , so I guess this is a blessing in disguise for me. I have the photos below for your assessment , the car is fully insured and I have got the FIR report from the cops which I should present to my insurance company tomorrow. Should I pay for anything and I think my car will be at the dealership for a month. Will I get a loaner during this period ?

Drive safe guy's , this thing can happen anytime to anyone. Always check your car whenever you feel there is something wrong with it.

yikes.

this is why i never tail people on the freeway and keep a distance (not saying you tailgated anyone or didnt keep your distance)

looks like it should be a easy fix but then cant be too sure unless you take the car apart yourself and look at it. you will for sure need a new trunk, headlights, and bumper.

First, glad you're ok, and damage doesn't seem that bad.... but just to head this off a bit-

A BBK wouldn't change your braking distance in a panic stop.

Neither did the low dust brake pads assuming they were installed correctly.

If you want the car to stop shorter you need better tires not better brakes.

The tires are what stops the car.

Honestly, I didn't tailgate. I was just about to exit left and he braked all of a sudden. I still don't know why my Lexus could not stop while his SUV stopped from hitting the guy in front of him. Agree it's my mistake since i rear ended him.

My own dad does not believe me so I'm not going to complain if nobody else doesn't believe me too .

You could be right about the tires Kurtz. I'm at 40,000 Km's and still on the same stock tires I got first. A tire specialist at Pirelli here told me that I could still go another 30,000 Kms more on the stock Bridgestones , don't really know how far this is true since my car did not stop today .

I believe you, brah. I've almost had the same thing happen to me on a few occasions. I've had the car at the shop several times to complain about the lack of stopping power and long pedal travel before "biting". All times I've been told it 'checked out fine' and 'everything was within spec'

Glad to hear you're ok.

BTW: spent a few months in your land circa late 90/early 91. Absolutely beautiful country with great people and phenomenal roads

Kurtz explained everything well. Tires are where the rubber meets the road.

Sorry to hear about that... looks like you need a new hood, bumper and grill

I don't see anything too damaging. Glad to hear you're ok

I am glad to hear no one got injured, I am starting to believe Kurts knows everything since that was also my first thought about the tires.

Yes exactly. I felt that too. Before the brakes could bite , the pedal was travelling like forever. And by the time it bit I already hit the guy in front of me

Yes do come visit another time as well , after i get my baby out though.
