Engine Oil for IS350
Just wanted to know what oils you guys run for an IS350??
Who is the resident expert on oil and frequents BobIsTheOilGuy forum???
I guess Mobil 1 5W30 is fine if changing every 5K - 8K. But wanted know if something might be better without the extra cost. If it was like $15-20 more per oil change, I might consider it.
Thanks.

regarding this oil...I've read that the new models now run 0w-20 rather than the traditional 5W-30. I guess they do it for better MPG. What do you guys think of running 0W-30? on an 08 IS250?

My '06 IS350 originally came with 5-30, but there was soon a TSB instructing the dealers to switch to 5-20 in this car. I have owned the car for almost two years, and have run Mobil 1 5-20 Synthetic since I've had it. I use Purolator filters, btw. But you can usually score the factory Toyota filters pretty cheap from Sewell. I am curious about the Royal Purple, as I have heard a lot about it. It is only about a dollar a quart more than the Mobil 1 if you buy it by the quart, but I get the 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 from Walmart for about $26, which is by far cheaper than anyone else....

What's better for protection? 20 or 30?? I don't care about gas mileage. It's not going to make that much of difference for me. Rather save the engine and keep the car till 150K+ than more ware and tear for a gas savings.
thanks.

Anyone have a link / copy of the TSB that says to switch to 5-20 for this car? Is this switch even for older 2007 IS350???

No reason to run a WIX filter, OEM filters are cheap and what the car was designed with

i've always used oem filters, and 5w30 mobil 1. I consider mobil 1 to be really good products, and I've noticed the difference switching from castrol blends that the dealer used to throw in my car. mobil 1 is high quality stuff, i'd recommend spending the extra few $$ on this, and I personally think that's good enough. these forums are full of people who live and swear by mobil 1, so i'd recommend using that personally.
I use it in my 1997 honda accord these days even, with 150,xxx miles. it's just awesome stuff.
09 250.
