Engine Oil for IS350

"Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0W-20 will not void new-car warranties where an SAE 5W-20 oil is recommended."

The first number (0 or 5) is the oil weight when cold. The 0 weight will provide reduced engine wear compared to 5 weight while your engine is warming up (after a cold start). The second number tells you the oil weight (and therefore engine protection level) at 100°C (approximately normal operating temperature). I have been running Mobil1 0w30 for over a year including 10 track days without any issues.

Car companies have gone to thinner weight oils to help meet CAFE standards by increasing mpg ratings... What is your basis for saying that a thinner oil was used because of a cam shaft knock problem and that the pistons slap? If you are referring to the vvt actuator recall, Lexus addressed that with a newly designed part, if simply using a thinner oil would have solved that problem I'm sure Lexus would not have gone through the expense of a recall... Also, changing to 0w oil is not going to help reduce engine noise or piston slap.
To the OP, I still use the 5w30 in my 2006 is350, I do use mobile one full synthetic instead of conventional oil though... I'm sure the dealer finds it easier to just use the 0w20 when some one asks for synthetic, since the newer models use this oil, and they probably carry it in bulk. I think you will be fine using the 0w20 for this oil change, but I would go back to a 5w30 at the next interval.

I'm not arguing with Cam shaft noise in the IS model, i'm trying to show Toyota Lexus owners to maintain their car especially old and high mileage car properly, peoples always worry about Fuel efficiency, better MPG rate so your powertrain dies faster ? everything has a prize, you get what you paid for and the cycle of life !
if they want fuel economy drive a YARIS or a Corolla, i rather keep engine than save money on gas, myself hate 4cylinders car i love V6 V8 mouahhh power baby ! yeah bro they redesign the engine for their new Lexus model with 0-20 and 5-20 i think all 2012+ model
Lexus Corp stated switch from 5-30 to 5-20 reduce noise and better MPG rate, in my opinion 10-30w should reduce more noise ?

I've been using theValvoline high milage blend 5-20 with a K&N filter but I change my oil every 3000, I have 120,000 miles now. I guess I'm old school. l like keeping my oil golden color.
