Solving the rattles
I have, for the last week, been on a mission to solve all the rattles in my is350. I will post up some pics later so people can easily replicate what I have done. So far I have been successful but there is still more work to be done. I would love to have a thread full of pictures dedicated to solving all rattles people have experienced. I will share what I was able to find and maybe others will chime in and help too.
Really the first problem is knowing what rattle you have.
Dash: This is covered by many threads and is a LSB but since I dont suffer from it i have not payed much attention. There is a rattle that comes from steering wheel area and will get some pics of how to fix that. Here is a post for what I did to eliminate my instrument cluster rattle. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/6664323-post76.html
Glovebox: There are three potential sources of rattle, the latch, the back wall and the shelf. Isolate the cause by opening the box door, removing the shelf and securing the back wall of the box. (hard to explain without pics). I have not solved the latch rattle. It is a very quiet rattle and only happends when the door is up, I need to start felting things to see what solves it.
Doors/B-Pillar:I think there are only two rattles involved here. The first is actually the seat belt adjuster and the second is the door seal. Once again you need to trace the rattle to its origin to solve it. Hold all the pieces of the seat-belt adjuster and see if there is still a noise. The door seal noise may only happen when the window is fully up or there is no pressure on the door latch. Try pushing on the door and lowering the window a crack to see if you have found the genesis of the rattle. There are two was to solve tape the metal c shape on the door frame so there is a tighter seal of the door(other people have taken it to Lexus and get the frame adjusted but it closes funny) or go get 3M (wet type) Silicone spray and lube up your door seals and window seals. I did this and this stuff is flat out magic in a can! BUY THIS NOW!!!
Back windowI know there is a rattle here but once again I do not have it so I have not fully investigated it, I think there might be an LSB for this?.
Seat Squeak There is an LSB for this IF the squeak is from the bottom of the seat. You have to take the seat out and saw off two pins. (Circled in red below) I am trying to solve a creaky seat. Basically my side bolster has a creak and I need to get in there to fix.. I am still not sure as to how to take the back off my seat to fix this... any idea?????
Soon I will compile pictures and a method to eliminate these squeaks and rattles for good.

TSIB is a technical service bulletin, basically a document Lexus creates on common problems with their cars that they send to dealers that outline symptoms, warranty coverage info, and how to fix it.
None of the rattling issues will be covered by any Lexus warranty other than the factory 4 yr/50k bumper-to-bumper warranty, not even CPO. That's because all extended warranties (CPO and VSA) specifically exclude body and trim pieces. I also have never seen a third party/aftermarket extended warranty that covers body or trim pieces either. So these rattle fixes will be DIY or out of pocket.

I just got my LSB for dash rattle done yesterday. No more rattles. The funny part is the loaner IS250 they gave me had the same exact rattle. I guess this is a really common issue. Lexus should just do a recall for it, I understand it is not a safety issue however it is common enough that it might scare customers away.

my '11 IS rattles non stop everywhere. Moon roof when tilted, center console, passenger side dash, driver side pillar where the seat belt goes in...
My solution as of thus far... F sport exhaust + PPE headers + sub in the trunk... all of a sudden i can't gear the rattling anymore!

I shoved a black gum eraser cut into a wedge about an inch long into the space between my dash and the windshield right in the center where the center speaker grill is (even though there is nothing in there unless you have Mark Levinson). No more rattles!
