I was looking under my hood today and found some pink-like stuff on some areas. I think my water pump is leaking..
anyone with info on replacement, warranty, or DIY??
I heard most dealers want $700+

A dealer won't replace a water pump "just because". It should only be replaced if it's actively leaking, or shows signs that it was leaking (more than just seepage) significantly in the past.
Preemptively replacing a part without defect is against warranty policy, there are no bulletins that exist stating there is a problem with IS water pumps, and from what I've seen they fail no more regularly than any other water pump from Toyota/Lexus.

No they won't, or at least, they shouldn't.

Of course if it is leaking it will be replaced, but if it isn't leaking, it won't be.
I was just saying that just because they're in there doesn't mean they will replace it, but if it is leaking, of course they will.

I just had mine replaced while having my gearbox replaced. I told the tech that the noise sounded like the bearing on the pump was going bad. Sure enough when I picked it up I was correct and my showed now sign of leakage.
There are obviously reasons to replace a water pump. My point is that warranty should not be replacing the water pump "just because" under warranty. It is against policy.
It doesn't mean it doesn't happen, it just means people shouldn't expect it. I don't like hearing people get upset because a dealer didn't do something they shouldn't have done. Just trying to manage expectations, haha.
