Default IS 250 Key Fob Problem

Hello all, I'm thinking this must be a car related problem. I went to get in my car this morning and the car won't detect my key so I replaced the battery and it still won't work. I opened the car the old fashioned way and got my car to start using the alternate method so I know it's not a car battery problem of a key fob battery problem. Any ideas as to what the problem could be?

Thanks in advance!

How do you know it's not a key fob battery problem? When you start your car by holding the fob against the start button, it's not being powered by the fob battery, it's being power by an induced current (like an electric toothbrush charger). It sounds like your replacement battery is either bad or is inserted incorrectly.

Well, I have two fob keys and I replaced both batteries to make sure. Besides the battery, what else could there be wrong with the fob keys? Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply btw.

There is a red light on the key fob (to the left of the lock button) that illuminates when it is transmitting. Is the red light coming on when you push a button? How about when you bring it close to the car?

The light comes on when I push the button and it blinks when close to the car.

BUMP, I have the same problem now. Both remotes are flashing when I bring the fobs close to the car. The light turns on when I press the button. Neither doors open. Only the trunk will only when I hit the rubber spot on the trunk. However, the trunk button on the fob won't do anything.

I can start the car when I bring the fob close to the start button.

Sounds like a dead battery, but the odds of those 2 batteries going out at the same day????

Car battery is just fine.

Maybe its local interference. I just drove my car out to see if I can buy new batteries. Once I'm away from my home, everything works fine again!

Will buy some spare battery just in case...
