Switched to this color and still not satisfied. I think im gonna go all black on it with some bronze or golden highlights on the grooves of the engine cover that are already there.

what about leaving the two far sides separated by the lines bronze/gold and painting the center black?

My finished product

Step 1:figure out what colors and what schemes u wanna do

Step2:buy all neccesary tools to finish the job: I reccommend krylon spray paint Krylon Fusion for plastics (1 bottle for each piece of plastic u want to paint), painters tape to cover stuff u dont wanna paint or wanna paint a diff color (1 roll 2inch thick should be good), sandpaper 200-600 grit (5 sheets) I used 200 grit to sand all pieces minus the lexus emblem which I took off, optional clear coat krylon makes a clear coat that I used on one of the black pieces and didnt like it cause it took off the glossy look so I ended up putting another coat of the glossy black over the clear coat

Step 3: here are the prep steps
a.sand all the pieces (even though the krylon fusion for plastics claims to b a non prep I went ahead and sanded anyway just to be sure)
b. wash and dry all parts u wanna paint
c. tape up what u dont wanna paint
d. spray paint part with light coats. letting each coat dry for a few mins (about 2 mins in between)
e. for glossier look add a medium coat over the light coats

Hint: make sure before u start spraying anything that the surface is clean and smooth and free of any debris

Hint: if u plan on using colors that krylon fusion for plastics doesnt make, doesnt have, or u just cant find; use a primer coat (white) and let dry for an hour or longer and then u can spray paint pretty much any color u want.

Hint; My finished product was a combination of krylon fusion glossy black and rust-oleum primer white coat then rust-oleum hammered finish over the primer

Hint: I found all the tools I needed at home depot and walmart and ace hardware. Walmart carried alot more krylon fusion for plastics with ace hardware being #2. Home depot carried more rust-oleum branded spray paint and more sandpaper grits.

Hint: do it right the first time and u should only expend under $40 for this project and a few hours of labor

let me know if u guys have any further Qs

Was it still wet when you took the pic? either that or it looks like you missed a lot of spots.

Finish doesn't look like it came out very smooth. As long as you're happy with that's what matters. To each his own.
