Default CD Unit Not Functioning - Please Help

I just bought a 2006 250 and the CD changer does not work. This is a non nav non levinson radio. None of the buttons on the CD changer work. Only the volume and tune **** work. I can push all of the other buttons on the changer unit and they don't do anything. The only way to change the audio mode is to use the mode button on the steering wheel and it only allows switching from am to fm.

Does anybody know whats wrong? Does anyone know who makes the cd changer so I can send it in for repairs?

Is there an error message on the screen or any lights flashing where the CD is inserted?

So it was like that when you purchased the car? Hmmmm, I'd start by disconnecting the battery for 10-15 minutes and see if that resets anything.

There are no error messages or flashing lights. Everything else with the radio functions properly. The PO told me it has not worked for a while. I will try to reset, but my plan is to pull it out of the dash and make sure all the wire plugs in the back are tight. I would like to send it for repair while I have it out, but I have no idea who made it.

Are there cds in the drive? If so, are they burnt cps, cd-r? or cd+r? The reason I ask if I had a problem a couple years ago when I had a 2007 IS250 and it sounds very similar to what happened to me. I took it to the dealer (still under warranty at the time) and they swapped our the cd player then told me to not user burnt cds. I told them B.S. because the car manual says you can use them in the cd player. I know this doesn't answer your question, I was just wondering if it had home made cds in the player.

Go to the passanger side and look under the console. There should be a fuse box under there. Pull out the Audio fuse should be called AUDIO or RADIO i forgot. Turn the car on then off. Put the audio fuse back in and start the car again. That should reset the whole cd changer. Let me know if it works

This would be a case of one of the two lasers has failed - the one in question would be the one which is able to read recorable media. The other laser, is the one which is able to read stamped/store cds.

I tried the fuse and it didnt have any affect on it. It looks like I am going to have to pull it and either have it repaired or buy one on ebay. Thanks for the help.
