Default Will this be covered?

ugh, sad day today
was going to take my GRE exam this morning
I had to go fill up some gas so i went to a local gas station
but there's a pothole and then a curb to the gas station

i have to go in a little faster because there are trucks behind me going fast
and i feel my suspension bottom out....
i checked at my tires and FML....

and its leaking a little air, but not fast

should i contact continental if this is covered by warranty?
or i should just get a new tire?

Thanks!

Should probably just get a new tire. I don't see Continental replacing a tire because of driver error.

If you bought from Costco you might have a shot.... a few of my siblings have been lucky with them replacing tires damaged by potholes and other similar causes. The mechanics said they normally do not replace tires for those reasons, but did so anyways free of charge.

Call Tire Rack. Tell them you hit something in the road, not sure of what it was but you checked your tire when you got home and found this damage. If the tire is less than 12 months old and the first 2/32" of wear, it should be covered under the Road Hazard Warranty (I believe pot holes are considered road hazards). I recently had a similar issue (raise sewer grate) and they had me purchase a new tire and then send my old one back to them. Once they check it out and decide if it is covered, they will refund the cost of the tire. You will need to buy a new tire anyway so unless you can get one cheaper locally, you might as well call Tire Rack 1st.

^^^The continental warranty covers all tires with road hazard warranty according to the warranty

So i only have about 7000 miles on this set of tires...
the damaged tire tread is about to the Lincoln memorial so around 6/32 i assume
went to ask a near by tire shop and they said its okay for to just replace one tire...

I know it may not sound right...
but I really can't buy two new ones and then put aside a usable tire in the garage....

If you go to Discount Tire or America's Tire, you can just buy 2 brand new tires and ask for some cashback on the one that is perfectly good. I did that before on my old car, got 2 new tires, and got 1/3 of the price or something back on the one that was perfectly fine. Better than having one laying around in the garage. Unless you wanna keep it for a spare.

That sucks, but according to the Tire Rack site they will not offer a road hazard warranty/certificate on the tires they sell if they come with one from the factory. So I assume those Continentals come with one from the factory?

Next time, buy from Discount Tire and get their "tire insurance". If this had happened to me I would have pulled into Discount Tire, and would have paid ~$30 for a new tire and the certificate on the new tire. Done!

GL!
