$500 for a whole dash? That seems like a bargain.

How much do you think it would cost for a new dash and installation at the dealer?

On another thread, someone got a quote of $800 in labor to install the dash.

I'd see if you can get it repaired locally, if not, you can get the dash from Sewell for $390.
Installing it would be quite a bit more than that. I'm not sure I'd recommend doing it yourself, only based on what happened to it while trying to remove this vent. There are also other places that may get damaged if you're not careful.

Shoot a hair dryer at it when the vent is in. This should expand the compression damage from the screwdriver (?) you shouldn't have used!
If that fails, take it to an upholstery repair shop - you'll be amazed at what the can do for $50.00!

You shouldn't pry in that spot. You need to pull down the 4 top tabs from inside the vent, and then pry from the side (after putting tape or something to protect the dash and the prying tool).

Hopefully I'll come across a vent for a decent price.
I attempted attempted to patch it using leather strips. It is a halfway decent first pass I think.....
Where did you get those strips? I wanna do the same thing. The strips I am finding are all too thick.
