Ya it should have the VIN. If it really bothers you put black vinyl on top of it and then put your decal on there. I wouldn't try to remove/scratch it out.
I didn't know it had the VIN on that? I was wondering the same also. I have a decal, but it looks like you can't take it off, so I just put it right on top...doesn't bother me anymore.
According to the defensive driving course I just took, the etchings are safety certification for the glass. Removing those is technically illegal, kind of like the tag on a matress that says not to remove.
I don't see a VIN in the picture the OP posted at the top of the thread. Nor do I remember seeing my VIN etched on the glass on my car, at least not in a visible location.

Can you post a close-up picture of your decal ontop of the Lexus stamp? Do they not interfere with each other?

Definitely not etched. I was able to softly poke at it with my fingernail.
If it's just a safety warning etc i think i will go ahead and scratch it off before placing my decal.
No, the VIN's are not etched (at least not in that location from the factory) it's just safety information/manufacturer information about the glass.

Sorry guys I could have sworn it was on there. My bodyshop guy was complaining about it when swapped my door. I'll have to look at it. Thanks for clarify Jeff
