Default halogen headlights w/o AFS question!

Is it possible to buy AFS HID headlights and get AFS programmed into the car? or can i only run aftermarket HID ballast?

Not sure if you can get AFS programmed into the car, but you can always retrofit projectors in those housings to get the same or better output than the stock hid afs projectors. I don't care much for AFS- my RX330 has it and it's not anything special.

Could always upgrade to to the HID/Daytime LED IS 2011 kit from Sewell. It will cost you thou.

well, I have projectors just thought it was weird that it came with halogen bulbs. my lights aren't d4s either they are h11 so I bought ddm tuning slim ballasts fir hid output, I plan on doing a summer project, black housing and want to buy parts off eBay black house it but was wonder why not buy an 09 headlight with afs and has an hid kit already instead of using the ddm tuning. I don't think the new 2011 headlights can fit the 06 body thought

I have the 2011 headlights on my 06 w/ factory halogen, so yes they do fit. They're plug n play as far as the low/high beam function is concerned (with d4s bulbs and ballasts of course), but some rewiring of the harness is required to get the LED strip to work. I got mine off of ebay which is really hard to get right now because they're so rare to get both used.

I would like to know the same.
Has anyone gone from a non AFS to an AFS conversion?

AFS has a lot more to it than simply "reprogramming" something. There are other components required (computer, wiring, etc.) to get the AFS working.

I would say it is likely cost/labour prohibitive for something that doesn't actually do that much for you.

That being said looks like AFS's my IS will be out of the question. Thanks for the post Jeff. Your the 3rd post I read that stated it's not worth all the trouble.
Thanks again
