Default Dealership fail!

Had my Lexus dealership program the tpms system to my second set of wheels a couple of months ago. Put my factory wheels back on today and surprise surprise tpms errors. They didn't add the second set, they just overwrote the original. Now, at the dealership, they are trying to tell me I need to have the system reprogrammed every time I swap the wheels and want me to pay for the programing! The thing that really bugs me is that they talk down to me like I don't know what I'm talking about

Sorry, just had to vent, figured some of you would understand.

did you put the wheels on yourself? You do have to reprogram the tpms everytime you remove the wheels. Back to your point, yes I agree with you that some of the assistant managers are *******s..

you should be able to switch between the 2 tpms sensors using the circle button on the left side of the steering wheel. i believe the manual says how to do it exactly. but if the dealer said they just overwrote the original code, and didnt bother to reprogram the second tpms set to the second setting, then you got jipped. sorry to see that.

I had the same issue. I paid them to program a second set but when I switched back to my stocks I got the error, went back to the dealership to get it fix now it's all good. I have two sets of TPMS programmed and I just choose a set each time I switch the wheels.

Why go to dealership when you can go to a tire shop to reprogram your sensors? Most tire shops now carry tmps programming devices. If you do any service with them, they might program for free...just an fyi.

When I got the new set of wheels I went to 3 different tireshops (including the one I bought the wheels from) and all were unable to get the system to register the codes. The dealership is my absolutley last resort for anything except warranty work.

if you have the original receipt show that to your dealer or your service representative, you can probably use that against them to say that they didnt do the job correctly in the first place. though i hope that when you first had the job done there was an understanding with your rep that you wanted a second tpms set programmed to the car. just a thought...

My dealership did the same thing - I had a tire shop mount my snow tires on a second set of rims with new TPMS sensors and took the car + the TPMS codes to my dealership and asked them to program them in as the second set. They knew "what" to do, but still messed it up. They overwrote the existing set rather than making it the second set.

My dealer didn't FAIL though - my service manager noted in my file that it was their error, and re-programmed things the next time i brought the car in for service - no charge. He also waived the initial programming fee because they messed up.

Lexus of Seattle - love the service there
