Default Cant play DVD

Hi all,

I am just about to tear my hair out over this.................

I have a manual 2006 IS220D with Mark Levinson DVD/Sat Nav/Audio system. When I insert DVD it only plays the sound with no video. On the Disk changer screen the "picture" button above the "wide" button does not highlight or allow me to press it. The DVD-V is highlighted and the audio for the DVD plays fine, I can hear it in the background but no visual.

I have gone into every setting I can to see if I can fix it but no luck.

The vehical is in "ACC", with the hand brake on.

Please Help Before I take a crow-bar to it.................................

And the car is in park too? Did you mess with the wiring at all (nav hack)?

I have the 06 automatic and when having the Emergency break on, I can get the "picture" button to light up. I would try finding your manual to read about it. Interesting if something different has to be done with the manual.

I have gone through the Manual repeatedly and it just assumes that it play automatically. There is no troubleshooting section for this issue. I have trawled through all the post on here and my-is.com and various other links to no avail. Its frustrating as hell as I have an external hard-drive ready to fit under the passengers seat, a blackberry bluetooth for wireless data transfer all waiting to go as soon as I can figure this out.
I will also complete the DVD hack after I have got the thing to just play regularly.

I would be eternally grateful for any input as this is really driving me crazy.

As Jordo said, make sure the car is in Park and that the Parking/Emergency brake is engaged, you should then be able to see the picture.

Hey guys thanks for all the input, but as advised in previous post, the car is most definitely in park.
I think though I may have discovered the issue;
Its a second hand car and I think that the previous owner has tried to hack the levinson system as there are a couple of little scratched around the panel work to the sides of the gear shift. I can also set nav destinations while driving and make calls which i didnt realise was not possible ordinarily.
So I guess my situation is this:
Keep the ability to make calls and use sat nav while driving and have no dvd
or
dvd and lose the above
or
get system hacked again for all the above

lol, think I'll just leave it alone................Im tired already!!!!!!!!!!

Possibly the previous owner tried to hack it so it'd play DVDs outside of park and screwed it up so that it won't play them at all (ie instead of always thinking you're in park with the brake on it always thinks you're not, even when you are).

Sadly there's nothing to do unless you're willing to open the console up and check what has actually been done to the wiring and try to fix it.

Maybe it plays when not in park and with the hand break down.
