How to get center vent off???

Default How to get center vent off???

Been trying to figure out how to get the center AC vent off my 09 is . I hard a hard time reaching the tabs to pull down under the top but the vent won't budge, am I doing something wrong?

search for "nav hack" i believe there a picture and diy to remove that.

so after pulling the tabs down you have to pry the center vents out??

this was pretty hard to do the first time i remember. i had to do it to work on an led project on the dash. also be careful with prying, as the plastic might dent or get messed up. use a plastic prying tool to avoid it. but yes essentially you pull the tabs down and tug on the center vent. theres some clips also on the bottom of the vents you might have to look out for incase the vents get snagged on them.

4 clips. and pull. and it can be a PITA. rocking back and forth helps.

O hell, This is a two man job. One pulling down on the tabs and one pulling out of the dash.
Do one side first and then the other. The problem is that the tabs are like wedges when you pull they grab more if they are not pull down enough.

By the way on the Nav hack is nt the sam year car so the take off method is not the same.
In older cars you pull down the tabs and here comes the facia of the vent. Now in 2009 the entire vent and duct behind comes out.
Like I mention do one friend with care on the two tabs on one side and then the other. This is how I did it. I had the same problem as you at first.

That video makes it look super easy lol. I'm gonna have to do that this summer when I fix my center console creak.

my tabs wasnt that easy to reach .. i had to almost insert the small screwdriver vertically, still then i still had a hard time

That Video is from a 2006-2008 car. 2009 the vent change , I already said that in my post.
Can anyone follow instructions here!
