IS fuel pressure sensor recall (merged threads)
there was a whole big (7 page) thread on which plant ones car came from a while back--
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...sembled-7.html
I mean, unless it's like, the first 10 cars produced in 08 and mine was #11 or something crazy like that.
Not that I'm complaining about not being under the recall, it's just weird.
...or LATE 2008 FTW. hehe.
...I haven't gotten any of the recalls outside of the "brake override and shorten the pedal so it doesn't get trapped under your floormat", which wasn't exactly necessary imho. No valve spring recall, and it sounds like I'm probably exempt from this one as well.
This is just personal preference, but I'm a big proponent of waiting until year 3 of a new model cycle. I might have even went 09, but I liked some things about the '08 better, and it was more cost effective (since it was one of several left overs). ...to each their own though.
(Edit: Good thing I went for a 350 instead of a 250 though since that goes through early 2009. Interesting.)

I don't think they have released the VIN range yet (unless it is in the PDF I included on the 1st page of this thread) as we are in the preliminary stages of this recall...
you can always check your VIN on the Lexus website...FYI

I'm quite pleased with Lexus recalling this. While everyone freaks out thinking their vehicle is having issues...our cars still run fine. In fact from what I read, this recall occurred from about 77 complaints overseas and 142 in japan. Toyota has sold about 1.7 million vehicles in the US and just under 2 million in Japan from 2009 FY alone. Can you imagine any other company that issues a recall over such a small number of complaints? It just means Toyota is more than happy to eat the cost of the recall to make sure their vehicles stay in good shape before actual problems occur.
I don't know about you but Lexus has treated me just fine. I've yet to hear about any of my friends with a toyota with a lot of problems. I have heard about their nissan's, bmw's, subaru's, etc all having some sort of issue at some point that they have to fix out of pocket. Lexus has done us well.

I agree kuuqi.
They are doing the best they can with the situation they are in. Lexus doesn't want their name tarnished any more than it is so I'm sure they are scrambling to meet our needs.
Quick, thanks for starting this thread and informing all of us. Thank you for caring. And you being a representative of Toyota, that says a lot. Because you really didn't have to do this.

Toyota is initiating another huge recall.
On Wednesday, the Japanese automaker said it is recalling 1.7 million vehicles worldwide, including approximately 245,000 Lexus models sold in the United States.
Models sold in various parts of the world are involved for different reasons. In the US, the models are being recalled because of a potential fuel leak that could cause a fuel odor in the car.
The following models are part of the recall:
* Lexus GS 300/350 (2006 and 2007 models)
* Lexus IS250 (2006 through early 2009 models)
* Lexus IS350 (2006 through early 2008 models)
Although Toyota announced it would initiate the recall, it offered no time frame when it would begin repairing the vehicles.
Recalls of the 10 most expensive cars
The flaw in the Lexuses involves a fuel pressure sensor that can come loose. The sensor is connected to a pipe that delivers fuel to the engine, and if it is not sufficiently tight, it may eventually loosen enough to leak fuel.
"There are no warnings that this condition will occur,” Toyota said in a press release. “However, if fuel is leaking from the fuel pressure sensor, in some instances a fuel odor may be noticed from the engine compartment.”
When Toyota obtains the parts it needs to fix the problem, it will send out letters asking owners to bring their cars in for inspection. The inspection should take about an hour, and if a repair is necessary, it should take about three hours. The repair will involve either tightening the sensor or replacing a gasket. Although notification letters have not been sent yet, vehicle owners who are concerned about a leak can take their car to a dealership for an inspection at any time.
The fix is free to the vehicle owner.
Brian R. Lyons, a spokesperson for Lexus, described the leak as "very, very minute," and would not speculate as to what the worst-case scenario would be if a vehicle were not repaired.
"We don't have any confirmed cases of accidents or injuries associated with this," Lyons said.
However, he added, "We do have one insurance claim that we have been unable to confirm at this point."

Geez, I was in a morning meeting, and one of the supervisors said that my car had a recall notice. That was one hell of a way to find out about that heh. Oh well, free tank of gas (make sure to go empty), just hope it doesn't explode
Like i said in the other threads about this topic. I still honestly trust lexus and their reliable of the cars. They are still number one in reliable to me and I would still buy another lexus even with all the recent recalls.
