Default Navagation DVD 10.1 Upgrade

I want to buy the new Nav update for my 07 IS350 and have been calling around about prices and installation. Everyone seems to be selling it for about $200. Has anyone found it cheaper?

Also, is it an easy install? Dealerships are charging $60 to install it claiming it can be "difficult" on my own, however from what I have been told it is simply popping the old one out and the new one in.

the install takes maybe 5 minutes, theres clips on youtube showing step by step, not worth paying someone to do it

I bought one at carson for $180 shipped, but it seem like after the new disk installed I heard the disk spin louder than before?

install is not "difficult" at all.
it would involve removing the clock panel

see this post, this would help

Oh, and I forgot to ask.. What is this "hybrid" DVD people mention? Is it different/better than what I am looking to buy and install on my car?

Folks who are still running the original 2006 model year firmware on their NAV can take that DVD, and a newer one, and use them to create a hybrid of the two, with the old firmware and the new maps, in an attempt to keep the software over-ride that the 2006 model firmware had but was removed in all later years.

Once you have the clock face off it is just a two minute operation to eject the old disc and install the new. Some people have had big issues getting the face plate off, but it popped right out for me after I installed the two pics into the holes provided.
