Well I see that I have not posted re: the $500.00 Visa card since back in mid-December. That was when I said "I would see what I would see". I got some quasi brutal comebacks form fellow Forum members but felt that I should still make a few calls. Various 800 numbers had to be called. Took a few tries to find the "correct" dept. I was most cordial as were the Lexus representatives.

They finally understood that I already had the Platinum extended warranty and that the GC seemed to be in order. They agreed and the card came. I'm pleased and Lexus is pleased that I'm pleased.

I'm still a bit disheartened that the car has been re-called so many times but such is life. I've been very sick most of Jan. and Feb. so am just now getting it in for the last two re-calls. Goes in Monday. Sure hope all goes well. My dealer/service advisor is telling me that they want the car for a week. My wife and I will miss it no matter what the loaner car is.

If you are having the valve spring recall and the fuel sensor recall, this should NOT take a week. The valve spring recall will take abut 8hrs, and according to my SA, they can only complete a certain numbers of valve spring recalls per day. The fuel sensor is simply just tightening a bolt to spec, if they cant tightening it, they will replace the whole unit. I do not understand why they would need a week to complete it. Make sure the mechanics are knowledgeable, and that they have had the experience in completing enough of these recalls successfully!

I sent my car in on a sat evening (they are closed on sunday), and my car was completed by monday evening.

Thanks, I'm sure they said one week. I'll make very sure that they know what they're doing. Well, to the best of my ability I will. I'm thinking of having some brake work done too, so maybe that is why they said 7 days. I appreciate the "head up" on this.

Yes, I would double check that as well. I dropped mine off at 10am on a Thursday, and it was ready for pickup at 5pm the next day. The service invoice showed 7 hours of labor for the valve recall, and the fuel pressure recall was a "quickie". Even with brake work, I can't imagine it would take much more than two days. Unless they are that backed up, which is possible. When I initally called to make the appointment for the valve recall, I was told they were 3-4 weeks out on being able to get me in. When I told them that I was already hearing valve chatter, they got me in the next week. Still waiting for my $500 GC, but checking the mailbox everyday. It has been nearly 5 weeks since I was told that it would be 30-60 days before I got it. Should be soon............

I just called Lexus (800-255-3987). They will send me $500 gift card.
I bought my 2007 GS350 on 8/9/2010. I purchased Platinum extended warranty on 8/23/2010. Valve spring recall was done 10/18/2010-10/25/2010, they gave me loaner so a week to do the recall was OK with me. On 11/5/2010, I recieved letter extending original warranty to 6yrs/100k miles and the $1500 certificate towards purchase/lease of new Lexus.....but no $500 gift card. I wait thinking the gift card may be on its way. Today I called and asked Lexus if I was supposed to have recieved $500 gift card. They said 'Yes' because I had previously purchased the Platinum extended warranty and that my gift card should be in the mail in 5 business days.

All is good.

Send Darrel at Sewell an email. He will set up the GC to your account as a purchase order. That's what he did when I posed this question to him.

Had my recalls done last month.. no mention or anything about my $500 gift card

For anyone with the gift card and doesn't know what to do with it.. I can use some sway bars for my IS350

Default Lexus Platinum Warranty -- Visa gift card - VSR recall

2008 LS460.

I had my recall done in February. About 2 weeks later I received my $500 Visa Debit Card. I decided to get a Lexus Platinum Warranty. 8yrs--75000 miles.
I called Jerry Johnson, at Midwest Toyota, and asked if the visa gift card could be used in part for the warranty. Guess what. It could. So besides getting a great price on the warranty, I got an extra $500 off from the Visa card, and paid the difference on my Master Card. Saved at least $1500 from the dealer price of the warranty.

If you register as an owner at lexus.com with your VIN it'll show any outstanding recalls specific to your car.
