Valve Spring Recall - $$$ Bonus
I have also had a Lexus Pursuits Visa card since 2008 and had about $600 in credits built up on that card which I also used towards the downpayment. Plus they allow you to put up to $10,000 of your downpayment on the Lexus Visa card which netted me ANOTHER $500 in credit. I am also supposed to get a $500 Visa gift card since I have an extended warranty on the IS. So all told I had about $3,000 in credits, reward points and goodwill gesture from Lexus towards Lexus products. That is pretty generous.Seriously, any Lexus owner who doesn't take advantage of the Lexus Pursuits Visa card is missing out on some pretty good rewards. I use it for day to day purchases and you'll be surprised how quickly you rack up $$ that can be used for goods and services at a Lexus dealer. I applied two years ago and they gave me a $20,000 CL, but YMMV.

When I have my appointment tomorrow to replace the valve springs, I'm definitely going to ask this question (regarding the cam gear TSIB). My IS350 is an '06 and I have experienced the noise, but only 10% of the time at start up. I'm at 58K, so it should be covered under warranty.
So, quick question, since all IS's have had the recall, obviously all the owners have gotten the notice and it should be in the lexus system, if not would it be wise to say that going to the dealer with the car if you buy one that they could keep their word on the recall since it wont show on their system. Also does it mean that any IS has powertrain warranty until 2012? Since they got extended to 6 years?
Not all IS's were recalled, and when I first called, they asked for my VIN number to make sure it fell in the range. The recall was only for the period when the machines making the springs were not aligned properly and had scarred the spring which was for the 2008 IS models along with the LS and other lines.

The only thing extended is that the warranty is now good to 100k miles instead of 70k.
None of which is relevant to the recall as you don't need to be in warranty for a recall to be done for free.

ok so i just talked to a person in lexus service department and asked about the $500 dollar credit. He told me that if you call lexus and complain or just express some frustration they will send you a prepaid visa in the mail.
