Car pulls back when going down a hill
lol i just posted something similar to this. Ive never heard anyone else complain about it. It supposely is normal. Mine does it on occasion when im slowing down between 40=50mph. It pulls a little, rpms jump up to around 3. I brake a bit more or step on the gas a little and it goes back to normal. But it doesnt happen every time
It jerks because the car is downshifting to engine brake which slows down the car. On long slopes some people end up overheating their brakes from overuse. Downshifting helps save the brakes. This is normal.

your driving a very sophisticated vehicle that does a lot more things than what toyota is even telling you.
as for it automatically. hit display on your steering wheel and go to gear position it show you actual gear and you can see if uses engine speed engine load, wheel speed, and rpm to determine gear. when you decel downhill it knows it and downshift to save your brakes.

this happens when not in power mode too. its a descent assist. I find it annoying sometimes as it's not the most relaxing thing.
If you never want it to do this, put it in sport mode and leave it in 6th gear.
